Cassette Electrik Album Launch Tonight – WITH LASERS

Yes, you read it right, Cassette Electrik are indeed launching their first album tonight with a shiny glittering party, which is not too dis-similar to a gig, but with more bells and whistles and DJs and stuff. Talking of bells and whistle, we’ll be providing shiny pretty visuals and stuff. Yes people, there will be lasers, multiple lasers.

Hit thier MySpace site to buy your tickets and get an exclusive 4 track remix CD.

It all kicks off at about 7ish at the newly re-opened Marquee club on Upper St Martins Lane. We’ll be downstairs, playing with extension leads. See you there.

Big Blue Shitter

Now we can’t all design rockets or robot cats, somebody has to put some thought into the humble shit seat. This one (found in the Big Blue Hotel, Blackpool) has enjoyed some real TLC during the design phase. Points to note:

  • Low seat for good ‘exiting’.
  • Wide seat for comfort.
  • heavyily tapered seat, also for good ‘exiting’ as it, well how can i put it? Allows for a good ‘parting’.

In other news we also took maybe more photos than we should have during our weekend in Blackpool to celebrate Auntie Chells 70th. If you’ve got a few days to spare why not have a browse?

Children of Men

So we finally got round to watching Children of Men last night as we taped it off the telly on our sky box thingy months ago, and oh my is it good. OK so the plot is a bit predictable, and some of the dialogue and acting could be better but the direction is sweet. A great attention to detail in the art direction (check out the 2012 Olympics jumper worn towards the end of the film by Clive and the Guantanamo Bay pastiche in the ‘fugee center) along with massive long hand held single shot action sequences make for a genuinely believable vision of the future. There are no sweeping CG aerial camera angles of cityscapes, people don’t all listen to ambient trance, America has blown up, nothing flys that shouldn’t fly, there’s no overly elaborate computer systems – ok, maybe a few odd looking computer screens, but nobody has to wear special gloves to operate anything… except that one guy on the games console, ok it’s not perfect but I liked it alright? sheesh, you people. It’s even got a dog track in it, and no, the dogs are not robots.

Cassette Electrik Visuals

We’ve done lots of gig visuals for a friend’s techno dance band. We’ve built our own gig visual software in flash to drive the show, and we design, animate all the visuals from scratch, bespoke for each track.

They’re Coming

Seeing that the readership of this probably consists of me, Jas, George, Stu and maybe a few other mates if we’re lucky, the chances that you’ve not already seen the invite for this year’s Fangoria are slim to say the least. But why not view it again?

Production is well under way, we’ll post some photos of us eating, sawing, drinking tea and of course screwing in the garage soon, like *real* soon.

Tricks vs Treats games – Orange Broadband

To promote Orange Broadband, we devised the ‘No Tricks Only Treats’ campaign to highlight Orange’s customer services and lack of dodgy small print. We made a couple of flash games to help illustrate the campaign that were used on a microsite as well as being featured quite often on YouTube’s homepage masthead. The brilliant animation is courtesy of Julian Frost.

The concept of both games is to play the same game as 2 characters, one of them an Orange Broadband customer, the other poor soul has shopped elsewhere. Of course the Orange customer has a much easier experience, whilst the other little laptop guy has to put up with all manner of tricks from his ISP. At the end, we also had some time to get boosting services from www.p4rgaming.com/blog/elo-boosting.
